I host a weekly online support group for anyone who is in need of mental health support.
When: Wednesday at 6:30pm, London Time Zone, but times could change.
Where: Online through Skype
How long: About 90 minutes
Rules and Regulations:
- The group is a safe place to speak about mental health. We pass no judgement or criticism on anyone.
- You are welcome to speak about your experiences within this group to outsiders, but you are not to speak of, or repeat anyone else's experiences, commentary or struggles.
- This group is open and accepting of all races, creeds, cultures, genders and sexualities.
For anyone under the age of 18 years, you must have a guardians permission to join.
- This group is religion free!
- You do not have to do anything that you don't want to do. If you don't want to speak, you can just listen to the other people. If you don't want to do the meditation, which takes place at the end of the meeting, you don't have to.
The Schedule:
- Introduce ourselves
- Chat a bit socially.
- Go around the group. Everyone gets a chance to speak about their struggles, how they're coping, how they feeling, what they are currently experiencing, and to ask questions that anyone else may have an answer for.
We also use this time to comment on what others have spoken about, and see if anyone has any useful tips or coping strategies.
When people find that they are experiencing the exact same thing, it can be extremely reassuring!
This is also a time that we may like to share some inspirational poetry, books or movies - anything that can aid in mental health recovery.
- End with a meditation. This is dependant on time.
If you are interested, please email me at mel@myanxietycompanion.com (PLEASE only use this email address for support group enquiries!)
***PLEASE TAKE THE DIFFERENT TIME ZONES INTO CONSIDERATION. The support Group operates on London Time***
